Breaking: Mamata Banerjee Hits Streets, Launches Protest Over Attacks on TMC MPs

West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee on Monday launched a major protest march in Kolkata against alleged attacks on Trinamool Congress (TMC) leaders and Members of Parliament. The demonstration comes amid rising political tensions in the state, with the TMC accusing its political opponents of targeting party representatives and workers. According to party leaders, the protest was organized in response to recent incidents involving TMC MPs, including alleged attacks on Diamond Harbour MP Abhishek Banerjee and Serampore MP Kalyan Banerjee. Mamata Banerjee claimed that the incidents reflect a growing atmosphere of political intimidation and violence against her party’s leaders. Before reaching the designated protest venue, Mamata Banerjee paid tributes to Dr. B.R. Ambedkar and Mahatma Gandhi, emphasizing her commitment to constitutional values and democratic rights. Carrying a copy of the Constitution, she accused the ruling establishment of undermining democratic institutions and attempting to silence opposition voices. The protest march drew significant public and political attention as large numbers of party workers and supporters gathered across Kolkata. Security arrangements were tightened by the police, especially around key locations connected to the demonstration. Reports indicated that authorities had approved an alternative venue for the protest, leading to discussions over permissions and route management. The TMC leadership stated that the demonstration was intended to highlight concerns over political violence and to demand accountability for attacks on elected representatives. Meanwhile, opposition parties rejected the allegations and accused the TMC of politicizing the issue. The development marks another chapter in West Bengal’s increasingly heated political landscape, with both sides exchanging accusations ahead of future electoral battles. The protest is expected to intensify the ongoing political confrontation in the state.
