Breaking: Delhi to Ban BS4 and BS5 Diesel Vehicles from Nov 1: Only BS6 Models Allowed Entry

In a major move to tackle the rising air pollution in the national capital, the Delhi government is preparing to enforce strict new emission rules from November 1. According to official sources, only BS6 diesel vehicles will be permitted to enter Delhi, while BS4 and BS5 diesel vehicles will be completely barred. The decision comes as air quality continues to deteriorate with the onset of winter, prompting authorities to introduce stronger preventive measures to reduce vehicular emissions — one of the city’s primary pollution sources. The new rule aims to ensure cleaner air and reduce toxic fumes generated by older diesel engines. Delhi traffic and environment departments have already begun coordination to implement the new system at all major entry points into the city. Vehicles found violating the rule will face heavy penalties and could be impounded. Officials say this measure is part of a broader winter pollution control plan, which also includes curbs on construction activities, increased street watering, and promotion of public transport. The government hopes that limiting older diesel vehicles will bring significant relief to residents struggling with hazardous smog levels every year.
