BREAKING: CM Yogi Calls Emergency Power Review Meet Amid Massive Electricity Crisis in UP

Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath has taken a strict stand over the ongoing electricity crisis across the state and is set to chair a high-level review meeting at 10 AM with senior power department officials. The emergency meeting comes amid growing public anger over prolonged power cuts, especially during the intense summer heat affecting several districts of Uttar Pradesh. According to officials, chairpersons, managing directors, and senior executives from the power department and UPPCL will attend the crucial review session where uninterrupted electricity supply and accountability mechanisms are expected to dominate discussions. The move follows repeated complaints from citizens and public representatives regarding unscheduled outages and poor power management in both urban and rural areas. The state government has already initiated strong administrative action against officials accused of negligence. Executive Engineer Rahul, posted in Ghaziabad, has been suspended with immediate effect and attached to the Meerut headquarters. Similarly, Executive Engineer Yogesh Kumar from Meerut has also been suspended following complaints linked to power disruption and operational failures. The government’s aggressive response highlights increasing pressure to stabilize electricity distribution as temperatures continue to rise across northern India. Several legislators and public representatives had earlier written to the Energy Department demanding urgent intervention to address the worsening crisis. Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath has also issued strict directives to the Uttar Pradesh Power Corporation Limited to ensure a minimum of 18 hours of electricity supply in rural areas and uninterrupted 24-hour power supply in urban regions. Officials have been warned against negligence, and further disciplinary action may follow if power supply conditions fail to improve in the coming days.
