The CBI has started investigating the NEET UG paper leak case after a Maharashtra connection emerged in the scandal. A suspect, Shubham Khairnar, was detained from Nashik and is being questioned by the agency. Investigators believe his links may extend to Madhya Pradesh’s Sehore, where he previously studied at Shri Satya Sai University. The paper leak network reportedly spread across several cities, including Gurugram, Dehradun, Sikar, Jhunjhunu, Churu, Nagaur, Kozhikode, Thiruvananthapuram, Nashik, Andhra Pradesh, Telangana, Jammu and Kashmir, and Bihar. According to reports, the first leaked copy was prepared in Nashik before being circulated to Haryana, where multiple sets were created and distributed to other states. The controversy has intensified criticism against the National Testing Agency (NTA), with questions being raised over repeated exam leaks despite advanced systems and resources. NTA Director General Abhishek Singh stated that information about the leak was received on May 7, prompting investigation and cancellation of the examination.
