Fresh political signals have emerged in Bihar after senior Janata Dal (United) leader Lalan Singh reacted to speculation about Chief Minister Nitish Kumar possibly moving to the Rajya Sabha. Speaking to the media, Lalan Singh said the decision would entirely be Nitish Kumar’s personal call, emphasizing that the party would stand with him wherever he chooses to go. His statement has intensified political discussions, with many interpreting it as a strong indication that such a move is under serious consideration. However, JD(U) has not yet released its official list of candidates for the Rajya Sabha elections, leaving room for speculation and internal debate. Sources suggest that some senior leaders within the party have advised Nitish Kumar to remain in Bihar and continue leading the state government rather than shift to national politics. Meanwhile, political calculations have already begun within the ruling National Democratic Alliance. If Nitish Kumar moves to the Rajya Sabha, it could open the door for the Bharatiya Janata Party to potentially lead the state government for the first time with its own chief minister. Names such as Samrat Choudhary, Vijay Kumar Sinha, and Mangal Pandey are being discussed in political circles, while JD(U) leaders including Vijay Kumar Chaudhary and Shravan Kumar are also being mentioned for possible deputy chief minister roles if the political transition unfolds.
