Bangladesh: Another Hindu Killed in Feni District, Mob Lynches Sameir Kumar Das; Family Devastated

A fresh incident of violence against the Hindu community has been reported from Bangladesh, further intensifying concerns over minority safety in the country. In the Feni district, a Hindu youth identified as Sameir Kumar Das was allegedly beaten to death by a mob, leaving his family in deep shock and distress. According to local sources, the incident took place in the Dagan Bhuiyan area, where Sameir Kumar Das, aged around 28, was targeted by miscreants under circumstances that are still under investigation. Family members reported that he failed to return home on Sunday night, following which a search was launched and a complaint was lodged with the police. His body was later recovered, bearing signs of severe assault. The killing has sparked outrage among local minority groups and human rights activists, who allege a rising pattern of communal violence in Bangladesh, especially as the country approaches key political developments. Organisations advocating for minority rights have repeatedly warned about increasing attacks on Hindus and other minority communities over the past year. The victim’s family is reportedly inconsolable and has demanded strict action against those responsible. Authorities have assured an investigation, but the incident has once again raised serious questions about law and order and the protection of minorities in the Muslim-majority nation.
