Senior Samajwadi Party leader and former UP CM Akhilesh Yadav has strongly welcomed the release of veteran SP leader Azam Khan from jail, terming it a “moment of happiness for all Samajwadis” and a reaffirmation of faith in justice. After nearly 30 months behind bars, Khan walked free following a court order, triggering celebrations within the party.Speaking to supporters, Akhilesh Yadav said Azam Khan’s political journey has always been about fighting against injustice and challenging the ruling BJP. He stressed that Khan played a key role alongside party founder Mulayam Singh Yadav in strengthening Samajwadi ideology and resisting communal politics. In an emotionally charged statement, Yadav also linked the struggle of Khan to larger issues of caste-based discrimination in Indian society. Referring to leaders like Dr. B.R. Ambedkar and Dr. Ram Manohar Lohia, he reminded people of the ongoing fight to dismantle caste barriers and social inequalities. Yadav noted that the humiliation faced by marginalized communities — whether in temples, homes, or public life — must end, and expressed hope that the courts would also take a strong stance against caste discrimination in the future. The SP leader’s remarks underline both relief and renewed political energy as Azam Khan re-enters public life.
