Jimmy “MrBeast” Donaldson has shared his clear view on where creators should focus if they want to build a loyal fan base. While many creators today chase quick growth on TikTok and Instagram reels, MrBeast believes YouTube remains unmatched for building real communities. The world’s biggest YouTuber explained why long-form content still holds more value for creators who want lasting success. The debate over which platform is best for new creators has grown in recent years. Many believe YouTube is too crowded with big names and that it is harder to break through. As a result, short-form video apps have created a new generation of viral stars.

MrBeast believes YouTube still leads as the top platform for building true communities

MrBeast on Cracking the Attention Economy

MrBeast believes creators should not limit themselves to just one platform. He stressed the importance of reaching people wherever they are online. “If you’re trying to reach as many people as possible, you should be on all of them because there is a certain fragmented audience on them. At the end of the day, if you’re trying to actually build a community or get it where a lot of people care about you, YouTube is 100% it,” he said at the 2025 Dealbook Summit. He also pointed out a key difference in how people consume content on different platforms. “If you spend an hour flipping through TikTok, you’ll watch 200 TikToks and then if you quiz someone on what they saw, they can’t even remember.” According to him, short videos do not create a deep connection with the audience. MrBeast also highlighted how long-form videos allow creators to build stronger bonds. He said, “People with ridiculous views and millions of followers will do a meet and greet and can’t even get five people to show up because there is a big difference between someone consuming a five-second TikTok versus sitting down and watching a 20-minute YouTube video and getting to know you.”He also believes YouTube is still the best space for creators who want to turn their work into a business. The YouTuber also said that the platform is “infinitely more dominant” for those who want to “build a business” from both their content and audience.Still, he warned creators not to ignore short-form platforms. He noted that some people only use apps like TikTok and Instagram. “If you don’t make content on that platform, you essentially don’t exist in their world. So, it’s important that you’re on all of them,” he added. His message is clear. Use every platform to grow, but build your true home on YouTube!
