Why is Tekashi 6ix9ine being sent back to prison again? Judge refuses his plea to serve his sentence at home

Rapper Tekashi 6ix9ine, real name Daniel Hernandez, faces three months in jail for violating supervised release terms. Prosecutors cited repeated legal troubles, including drug use and assault, demonstrating a disregard for court orders. Despite his lawyer’s plea for house arrest due to his status as a cooperating witness, the judge denied the request, emphasizing the need for accountability.

Tekashi 6ix9ine is headed back behind bars, marking yet another chapter in a legal saga that has followed him since his infamous racketeering case. The rapper, whose real name is Daniel Hernandez, has been sentenced to three months in prison after a judge ruled that he violated the terms of his supervised release. The decision comes after prosecutors argued that his repeated run-ins with the law showed a disregard for the conditions set when he gained early release in 2020. Despite pleas from his legal team that jail time would put him at higher risk due to his status as a cooperating witness, the court refused to grant him house arrest.

Judge rejects plea for house arrest as 6ix9ine’s violations stack up

According to ABC News and Billboard, prosecutors were initially pushing for a sentence of three to nine months, citing multiple offenses since 6ix9ine began his supervised release. His violations date back to November 2024 when he admitted to using drugs and traveling to Las Vegas without authorization. He served 45 days in jail for that offense and received an additional year of supervision. But trouble continued to follow him. By February, he was caught with cocaine and MDMA. Months later, he was involved in an assault at a Florida mall, further complicating his legal probation. These back-to-back incidents strengthened the prosecution’s argument that he continually disregarded court orders. Despite the repeated violations, 6ix9ine’s attorney, Lance Lazzaro, maintained that incarceration would have a disproportionate impact on his client. Lazzaro wrote that due to Hernandez’s cooperation in the 2018 racketeering case, where he testified against members of the Nine Trey Gangsta Bloods, his safety requires strict isolation whenever he is jailed. This means harsher conditions compared to standard inmates. “Due to Mr. Hernandez’ classification, he always serves his jail time segregated and fully isolated from other inmates,” he stated, adding that isolation leads to “very little time outside to get fresh air and exercise.”The court was unmoved, and 6ix9ine is expected to report to prison on January 6, 2026. For a rapper who built a career on controversy, this sentence serves as another reminder that legal consequences continue long after headlines fade. Also Read: “Get shot on stream”: Asmongold fears Twitch could face a deadly crisis if ‘nuisance streamers’ continue to thrive
