‘We fund outrage about ourselves’: Redditor reacts to YouTuber Tyler Oliveira’s video against H-1B

'We fund outrage about ourselves': Redditor reacts to YouTuber Tyler Oliveira's video against H-1B

YouTuber Tyler Oliveira’s latest video was on the alleged H-1B abuse in Texas.

After American YouTuber Tyler Oliveira’s 1.5-hour video on H-1Bs in Texas went viral, a Redditor reacted to the hatred techies are being subjected to while paying all taxes and being law-abiding residents. Oliveira, who is known for targeting Indians, interviewed Indians in Texas, asked them whether they love their motherland or the US and then concluded that a majority of them are doing something illegal. Since this has emerged as a hot-button issue for Texas journalists and content creators, Oliveira spoke to those who have been vocal against ‘H-1B visa abuse’. He called this illegal to come to the US on a student visa and then switch to the H-1B visa, which is a work visa, though this is a legal and long-established path. Many Americans reacted with revolt to the video as they concluded that they are unemployed only because of H-1B visa program. A Redditor observed that H-1Bs do not only fund the US economy, they also fund the outrage about themselves.

Redditor observed that H-1Bs also fund the outrage against them in the US.

Redditor observed that H-1Bs also fund the outrage against them in the US.

“1% of the population paying 6% of all federal income taxes. $250-300 billion a year. 11 million. American jobs created indirectly. Zero welfare use. Social Security contributions since day one. Will likely never collect. The video was filmed on an iPhone. Uploaded to YouTube. Monetized through Google. All three built significantly by the people the video is about. We don’t just fund the economy. We fund the outrage about ourselves,” the Redditor wrote. The reactions to this reasoning were expected. Hatred and asking the Redditor to go back to India. Some pointed out that H-1B visa holders did not invent Google, as the Redditor implied — H-1Bs are mediocre. “If an American performed the same job, they would pay the same taxes and probably more because wages will be higher,” one wrote. “H1b are just desperate people willing to accept abuse in return for a bit of money. Rarely do they have any real talent or abilities,” another wrote.
