'Using Epstein hoax to distract from shutdown': Trump slams Democrats; warns Republicans of 'trap'

US President Donald Trump on Wednesday dismissed recent Democratic claims that he “knew about the girls” at late sex offender and pedophile Jeffrey Epstein’s house, calling the reports a “hoax” and accusing Democrats of trying to deflect from their failures and distract people from the evils of the ongoing shutdown.“The Democrats are trying to bring up the Jeffrey Epstein Hoax again because they’ll do anything at all to deflect on how badly they’ve done on the Shutdown, and so many other subjects. Only a very bad, or stupid, Republican would fall into that trap. The Democrats cost our Country $1.5 Trillion Dollars with their recent antics of viciously closing our Country, while at the same time putting many at risk — and they should pay a fair price. There should be no deflections to Epstein or anything else, and any Republicans involved should be focused only on opening up our Country, and fixing the massive damage caused by the Democrats!” Trump posted on Truth Social. He added, “In other words, the Democrats are using the Jeffrey Epstein Hoax to try and deflect from their massive failures, in particular, their most recent one — THE SHUTDOWN!” The MAGA chief’s venting session follows the release of emails from Epstein’s estate by House Democrats, which they say raise questions about Trump’s past relationship with the late sex offender, according to the New York Times. In April 2011, in an email to Ghislaine Maxwell, Epstein wrote, “I want you to realise that that dog that hasn’t barked is Trump.” He added that one of his victims “spent hours at my house with him, he has never once been mentioned.” Maxwell replied, “I have been thinking about that.”Another January 2019 email to author Michael Wolff said, “Of course he knew about the girls as he asked Ghislaine to stop.” A December 2015 email discussed media handling during Trump’s Republican primary rise, with Wolff advising, “I think you should let him hang himself. If he says he hasn’t been on the plane or to the house, then that gives you a valuable PR and political currency.”The White House called the emails a “fake narrative.” Press Secretary Karoline Leavitt said, “The Democrats selectively leaked emails to the liberal media to create a fake narrative to smear President Trump.” The GOP leader has repeatedly denied any involvement in Epstein’s crimes and called him a “creep.”Trump and Epstein were part of Palm Beach social circles, and the infamous parties in the 1990s and early 2000s. Trump has said he banned Epstein from Mar-a-Lago after hearing allegations involving staff, including Virginia Giuffre. Democrats are pushing for full disclosure of Epstein-related documents, which the Trump administration had previously promised but later withheld.
