The United Arab Emirates has announced plans to gift a memorial monument to the people of Kuwait, to be installed at Al Shaheed Park in Kuwait City. The UAE government confirmed the decision on Friday, stating that the initiative follows directives from the country’s leadership. The announcement forms part of a wider, week-long celebration being held across all seven emirates under the theme “UAE & Kuwait: Brothers Forever”, an initiative aimed at honouring the long-standing historical and fraternal relationship between the two nations. The proposed monument is intended to serve as a lasting symbol of the shared history and common destiny of the UAE and Kuwait. Officials said the installation reflects ongoing efforts to deepen institutional cooperation and strengthen social ties between the two countries, while offering a permanent public expression of unity and solidarity. The landmark will be designed by young Emirati designer Omar Al Gurg, who is recognised for his ability to combine contemporary design with elements rooted in traditional Arab heritage. His approach is expected to align with the cultural significance and symbolic purpose of the monument.Al Shaheed Park has been selected as the location for the installation due to its national importance and its role in commemorating Kuwait’s history. The park is one of Kuwait City’s most prominent cultural spaces and is already home to major national monuments, including the Martyr Monument and the Constitution Monument. The UAE-gifted installation will be placed in a highly visible area within the park to ensure strong engagement from visitors. Its placement is intended to further strengthen Al Shaheed Park’s role as a centre for regional heritage, remembrance, and shared identity between the two neighbouring nations.
