UAE signs four major defence deals worth AED880 million at UMEX & SimTEX 2026

On the first day of UMEX & SimTEX 2026 exhibition, the UAE signed four major defence contracts worth AED879.785 million. The deals cover unmanned vehicles, advanced aircraft, and remotely operated systems, highlighting the growing activity in the nation’s defence and technology sectorsTawazun Council for Defence Enablement, the national body responsible for turning defence priorities into industrial and economic outcomes, confirmed the contract signings during a press conference on the opening day of the exhibition. Through these agreements, Tawazun aims to enhance the operational readiness of the UAE Armed Forces, foster international partnerships, and accelerate the transfer of technology and knowledge to the local ecosystem.Spokespersons Mohammed Saif Al Zaabi and Manea Abdulkarim Al Mansouri emphasized that these deals highlight the growing momentum in unmanned systems, simulation, and training solutions. They also noted that further contract announcements would follow throughout the three-day event, underscoring the sector’s strategic significance.

Major deals focus on unmanned systems and advanced aircraft

The opening day of UMEX & SimTEX 2026 saw four major contracts, totaling AED879.785 million. Key agreements included:

  • EDGE Group Contracts:
    • Development of SCORPIO S and SCORPIO M unmanned vehicles – AED28.883 million
    • Transformation of a gyrocopter into an unmanned logistics aircraft – AED22 million
    • Acquisition of ANAVIA HT-100 aircraft – AED661.194 million
  • Diveco International for Military Equipment (part of Ramah International Group):
    • Procurement of remotely operated vehicles (ROVs) – AED167.708 million

These deals reinforce the UAE’s focus on next-generation defence capabilities, combining innovation with local industrial development.
