Twitch streamer Cloakzy raises concerns over viewbotting after spotting unknown high viewership channels

One of Twitch’s most well-known creators, Cloakzy, has raised new concerns about the platform’s persistent viewbotting issue after wondering why so many new streamers are suddenly drawing enormous numbers. Cloakzy highlighted a pattern he says he sees nearly every day in a post that went viral on social media, channels with impressive viewership numbers but little to no name recognition within the larger Twitch community. At a time when confidence in Twitch’s metrics is still shaky, his remarks touched a nerve.Another important aspect of Cloakzy’s remarks is their timing. Twitch’s efforts to fight artificial inflation on the platform have taken up most of 2025; several high-profile enforcement waves have already changed viewership trends. Despite the company’s public claims of progress, Cloakzy’s comments suggest that suspicious activity may still be slipping through the cracks from the perspective of a creator, raising questions about fairness, credibility, and the long-term impact on legitimate streamers.

Cloakzy questions Twitch’s viewbotting problem as unfamiliar channels surge

Cloakzy’s concerns were laid out bluntly in his post, where he wrote, “Everyday i sign on twitter and discover a random streamer that averages 20k viewers but it seems no ones ever heard of them.” He followed that up with the question that fueled the wider discussion, “is viewbotting this big of an issue have I been living under a ROCK.” The tone reflected disbelief rather than accusation, but it was enough to reignite an already sensitive topic. His statement quickly tied into broader conversations around Twitch’s mid-2025 crackdown on artificial engagement. Earlier enforcement efforts reportedly flagged tens of thousands of channels for suspicious behavior, leading to sudden drops in viewership across the platform. While those measures were meant to clean up inflated numbers, Cloakzy’s comments suggest some creators believe the problem has simply evolved rather than disappeared. The debate has also been attracted to attention for reasons of past allegations made by Kick co-owner Trainwreckstv, who asserts that some streamers can end up paying between $10,000 and $20,000 each week for the services of professional viewbotters. The motives behind such activities, according to Trainwreckstv, are usually optimization, fame, and marketing benefits, at the cost of organic and genuine content developers, among other benefits. In the end, it’s important to recognize that the issues raised by Cloakzy illustrate a problem that the platform is still struggling to overcome. Community members just aren’t believing the promises of improved monitoring capabilities in spite of increased levels of enforcement. Many people have disturbing doubts about the level of transparency, the efficiency of the policy, and the intended equalization of the playing field in the wake of the shocking appearance of the unknown high-viewed streamers. Also Read: FaZe Clan situation explained: Creator exits, financial disputes, and new group rumors
