Super Typhoon Ragasa: Storm wrecks havoc in Taiwan, Hong-Kong, Philippines & south China - scary visuals emerge

Super Typhoon Ragasa unleashed its fury, sweeping away humans, cars, roads, and even bridges in its path in Taiwan, Hong-Kong, Philippines & south China.One of the strongest in years, it has killed 14 people in Taiwan and 4 in Philippines, as it halted life on the southern Chinese coast. A terrifying video showed a towering cloud canopy rolling across the sky in Hong Kong, signaling the storm’s immense power and scale.Ragasa is moving gradually away from Hong Kong but continues to lash the city with hurricane-force winds, while making its way toward Guangdong, China, where authorities have closed schools and businesses and suspended rail travel. Tens of millions of people are affected, with temporary shelters housing over 760 residents, and numerous flights and train services disrupted.

Giant cloud canopy caught on cam

A video posted online captures a dramatic shelf cloud forming over Lamma Island in Hong Kong as Super Typhoon Ragasa approached.The footage, taken from a low angle, showcases the cloud’s massive, rolling canopy stretching across the sky, highlighting the sheer scale and intensity of the approaching storm.

Raging waters smash through doors

A showed powerful waves of water smashing through a Hong Kong hotel’s entrance, rapidly flooding the lobby and interior spaces, sweeping away men. The staff later attempted to manage the aftermath, cleaning up the flooded areas, while the raging waters damaged parts of the building’s exterior.

Township swept away

Another video showed torrents of muddy water sweeping through Guangfu township in Taiwan, destroying a bridge and turning streets into raging rivers that carried away vehicles and furniture. Residents were seen seeking refuge on upper floors or higher ground as rescuers went door-to-door checking on people. Local authorities reported 14 fatalities, with contact still lost with 124 others.

Bridge ripped off

Powerful winds ripped sections off a bridge’s roof in Taiwan and toppled hundreds of trees throughout the city. Several boats were thrown onto the shore, breaking a row of glass railings along the waterfront. Flooding affected areas near rivers and promenades, submerging cycling paths and playgrounds.
