A Russian citizen has been detained in Moscow on suspicion of collecting and transmitting classified military information to Ukrainian intelligence, the Federal Security Service (FSB) announced on Tuesday.According to the FSB, the suspect a man in his mid-20s traveled to Ukraine between 2019 and 2020, where he reportedly established contact with members of the Ukrainian armed forces.

The agency claimed that the coordinates provided by the suspect were later used to target Russian sites in missile and drone strikes.Video footage released by the FSB showed the man’s detention and interrogation, during which he admitted to visiting Ukraine, attending political rallies and later cooperating with Ukrainian military and intelligence personnel.A criminal case has been opened against him on charges of treason an offense that carries a maximum sentence of life imprisonment. A court has ordered his detention pending further investigation. The FSB warned that Ukrainian intelligence agencies continue to recruit Russian citizens online through social networks and messaging platforms, urging the public to remain vigilant and avoid involvement in “illegal activities.”This comes a day after the FSB detained another Russian citizen in the Amur Region of Siberia on similar charges of espionage and aiding terrorism. The suspect, reportedly in his late 40s, was accused of spying for and financing a Kiev-controlled terrorist group, allegedly linked to Ukraine’s Main Intelligence Directorate (HUR).According to investigators, he had conducted surveillance along sections of the Trans-Siberian Railway and passed information on military movements to his contacts abroad.
