A new direct air link is set to shorten the distance between Gujarat and the UAE. Low-cost carrier SpiceJet has announced the launch of non-stop flights between Ahmedabad and Sharjah, a move aimed at meeting growing demand from business travellers, tourists, and the Indian expatriate community.

A new direct connection between Gujarat and the UAE

The airline said the Ahmedabad–Sharjah service will begin on February 5, 2026, marking Sharjah as SpiceJet’s second destination in the United Arab Emirates after Dubai. The route is designed to strengthen air connectivity between India and the Gulf, particularly for passengers with professional, trade, and family ties between Gujarat and the UAE.Ahmedabad is a major commercial and cultural centre, with longstanding links to the Gulf region. SpiceJet expects the new service to benefit frequent flyers, small business owners, and families who travel regularly between the two regions.

Flight schedule, frequency, and fares

According to the airline, the service will operate five days a week, excluding Tuesdays and Wednesdays.Flights from Ahmedabad will depart at 8.20 pm and arrive in Sharjah at 10.20 pm. The return service will leave Sharjah at 11.20 pm and reach Ahmedabad at 3.30 am the following day. Return fares are currently available from around Dh900, subject to availability as well as applicable taxes and surcharges, based on booking details listed on SpiceJet’s website.

Strategic importance of Sharjah in regional connectivity

“Sharjah’s position as a key regional hub makes it an important addition to our network,” said Debojo Maharshi, Chief Business Officer at SpiceJet. He added that the launch reflects growing demand for travel between India and the UAE, with the airline focused on expanding connectivity in markets with sustained passenger demand.Sharjah already has extensive air links with India. Sharjah International Airport handles around 25 daily flights to Indian cities, largely operated by Air Arabia, along with services from carriers such as Air India Express. Prominent routes include Mumbai, Delhi, Kochi, Thiruvananthapuram, and Surat.Bookings for the Ahmedabad–Sharjah flights are now open through SpiceJet’s website, mobile application, and authorised travel agents.
