Nobel 2025: Is Trump’s Peace Prize quest a one-sided affair or just getting started?

US President Donald Trump’s love for the Nobel Prize is no secret, but it’s a one-sided affair, as the Norwegian committee has already rejected his nomination. This year, despite Trump repeatedly stating the reason why he deserves the Nobel Peace Prize, the Committee chose María Corina Machado. Machado won for her fight to protect human rights and promote democracy in Venezuela. The Norwegian Nobel Committee praised her for showing “extraordinary courage” in supporting and standing up for the people of Venezuela.

Israel touted for Trump for Nobel Peace Prize

It looks like Israel isn’t willing to risk upsetting Trump, and they may have found a way to soothe him after his repeated Nobel Peace Prize rejections and this is why they wanted to complete his love story. As Trump went to Israel and spoke in their Parliament, Knesset speaker Amir Ohana said Israel will rally speakers and leaders from across the world to nominate Trump for the peace prize next year. “There is no one more deserving than you,” he said. “I hereby announce that together with our good friend, Speaker of the House Mike Johnson, we will rally speakers and presidents of Parliament from around the world to submit your candidacy for the Nobel Peace Prize next year. there is no more deserving than you,” he said. Not only this, earlier, Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu endorsed Trump for the prize. The prime minister’s official X account read, “Give @realDonaldTrump the Nobel Peace Prize – he deserves it!” alongside an AI-generated image depicting Netanyahu awarding Trump a golden medal.

How White House reacted?

White House Communications Director Steven Cheung swiftly criticised the decision, accusing the committee of choosing “politics over peace.” In a post on X, Cheung said, “President Trump will continue making peace deals, ending wars, and saving lives. He has the heart of a humanitarian, and there will never be anyone like him who can move mountains with the sheer force of his will. The Nobel Committee proved they place politics over peace.”

How Trump reacted after losing award to Maria

Trump departed for Tel Aviv on Sunday to promote the Gaza peace deal he helped broker. Despite missing out on the prize he had lobbied for, he emphasized his role in resolving conflicts. “I did this not for Nobel. I did this for saving lives,” the president told reporters. He continued, “This will be my eighth war that I’ve solved. I’m good at solving wars. I’m good at making peace and it’s an honor to do it. I’ve saved millions of lives.” Go to Source
