‘MAGA grandma’ Sharon Simmons flown from Arkansas for DoorDash delivery to Trump: ‘No one is claiming it was real’

'MAGA grandma' Sharon Simmons flown from Arkansas for DoorDash delivery to Trump: 'No one is claiming it was real'

Sharon Simmons who delivered McDonald’s packets to Trump at White House on Monday is a ‘MAGA grandma’ who was flown from Arkansas for the photo-op.

President DonaldTrump receiving a DoorDash delivery at the White House from one Sharon Simmons triggered a major controversy that it was nothing but a PR tactic and Simmons was a known MAGA supporter. A grandmother of 10, Simmons completed more than 14,000 deliveries and has been working with DoorDash since 2022. But it was not clear why the 58-year-old was flown from Arkansas and why a local DoorDasher was not chosen for the job.Trump reportedly tipped Simmons $100 after she handed him over two bags of McDonald’s on Monday. As she stood alongside him during a press conference, he asked her if she supports transgender athletes in women’s sports.”I really don’t have an opinion on that,” Simmons responded. “I’m here about No Tax On Tips.”Trump asked her if she voted for him but her answer was non-committal as she said ‘maybe’. But she is a known face as she featured with MAGA leaders in different videos. Republican Rep David Kustoff had posted on July 28, 2025, about hearing from Simmons at a Ways and Means Committee field hearing in Nevada, saying she had shared how the One Big Beautiful Bill would “make a real difference in her life.” Simmons’ husband was diagnosed with stage 3 cancer in early 2025 and Trump asked her about her husband’s cancer battle during their photo-op. Simmons said she had the wonderful DoorDash family to thank for her meeting with Trump. “They called me up and asked me if I would be willing to … and I said sure.” DoorDash said it was obviously a planned event and nobody claimed otherwise. “No one is claiming it was a real delivery,” Julian Crowley, a public affairs official at DoorDash, said in a post on X. “It was clearly and obviously a planned event to mark a new policy starting. To claim Sharon is a prop, plant or an actor is totally wrong and off base. She is a Dasher and she participated to support the policy that benefits her.” Max Rettig, DoorDash’s global head of public policy, said in a statement that Monday’s delivery “represents something bigger than a single delivery,” and that Dashers across the country had collectively saved “hundreds of millions of dollars” under the no-tips-tax policy last year.
