‘Lol, that’s it?’: Nikki Haley's son is not happy with US suspending immigration from 19 countries after DC shooting

Indian-origin Nalin Haley once again showed his hardline stance on anti-immigration when he was not satisfied with the Trump administration banning immigration and naturalisation from 19 countries following a deadly shooting incident last month by an Afghan national on two young National Guard members.In a post on X, the ‘America First’ loudmouth said: “Lol that’s it? Anything less than a complete immigration moratorium ain’t it”.This is not the first time the 24-year-old has expressed an opinion on immigration policies. Last month, Nalin called for a full ban on H1-B visas and also said that dual citizenship is a “stupid idea.” He said his loyalty lies with America only and that the modern Republican party should follow the same. Recently, MAGA has had a divided opinion on Trump saying that US lacks domestic talent and is in dire need of foreign skilled workers. Moreover, a major percentage of immigrants from Asian countries, especially India and China, make up most of America’s tech and defence sector. Nalin Haley himself has Indian-origin roots, which conservative Republicans and White nationalists often use to question his brown heritage and even his Catholic conversion. In a recent interview with Fox News, Nalin again doubled down on his tough stance, saying Congress is nothing more than a “glorified nursing home.” He outlined some must-do ‘Amerca First’ priorities:

  • Ban H-1B visas completely
  • Stop allowing corporations and the Chinese Communist Party (CCP) to buy entire neighborhoods
  • Advocate for a form of capitalism that works for everyday Americans, not just corporations and the elites
  • Republicans need to listen to young people (GenZ) more

DC shooting

On 26 November, 29-year-old Afghan national Rahmanullah Lakanwal shot two National Guard soldiers near the White House in Washington DC. Sarah Beckstrom, 20, was killed, and Andrew Wolfe, 24, remains in critical condition. The suspect was also injured and arrested. Following the shooting the Department of Homeland Security (DHS) suspended immigration for these countries: Afghanistan, Burma, Chad, Republic of the Congo, Equatorial Guinea, Eritrea, Haiti, Iran, Libya, Somalia, Sudan, Yemen, Burundi, Cuba, Laos, Sierra Leone, Togo, Turkmenistan, and Venezuela.
