Trump border czar Tom Homan made a surprising U-turn with his stance on the killing of US citizen in Minneapolis.Homan first told CBS Evening News that he would let the investigation play out, saying: “I’m not gonna make a judgment call on one video when there’s a hundred videos out there. I wasn’t on the scene, I’m not an officer that may have bodycam video. It’d be unprofessional to comment on what I think happened in that situation. Let the investigation play out and hold people accountable based on the investigation.”37-year-old Reene Good was fatally shot by an ICE officer on Wednesday as bystanders watched, recorded, and shared the video of the incident online. US President Trump called the woman a “professional agitator” who “viciously ran over” an ICE officer, leaving the agent no choice but to fire at point-blank range in so-called self-defence. Elon Musk, JD Vance said the same. Homan then went back to basics. Moments later, he aligned with Trump and other administration officials, including Homeland Security Secretary Kristi Noem, who blamed Good and defended the ICE agent. Noem described the woman’s acts and allegedly running over an officer as an “act of domestic terrorism.”Homan later posted on X and then painted the officer as the victim. “The incident in Minneapolis today is yet another tragic example of the results of the hateful rhetoric and violent attacks against the men and women of ICE and BP. These brave men and women are forced to conduct law enforcement operations in heightened threat environments every day. Like all Americans, our officers have a right to self defense,” he said. The czar clarified that he was not aware of the full situation before making the comments: “This interview was taped earlier today before I had the opportunity to see all the footage and learn the details of the incident. I do not comment before I have the facts. As I repeatedly have said, the brave men and women of ICE are heroes. Like all Americans, our officers have a right to self defense. Full stop.”British journalist Mehdi Hasan was surprised to see Homan’s earlier stance and said: “We now live in a world where Tom Homan sounds more moderate, less violent, less partisan than JD Vance.”Homan himself is a 30-year veteran of immigration enforcement and appears firmly in line with the White House most of the time.
