LA police stop security services for Kamala Harris

LOS ANGELES: The Los Angeles Police Department ended its protection for former Vice President Kamala Harris on Saturday after facing criticism from an elite unit of officers and the police union, according to two people familiar with the matter. The department said this past week that it had assigned officers to assist the California Highway Patrol in providing security for Kamala. The agencies stepped in to fill the gap that was left after President Trump terminated Kamala’s Secret Service security detail. Officers had been reassigned from crime suppression work, one of those people said. The request for the protection service came as the department was managing with reduced resources, the official said. NYT
