Gitex Global 2025 wrapped up after five days of intense activity, showcasing cutting-edge breakthroughs and forging vital deals across artificial intelligence, data infrastructure, cybersecurity, quantum computing, digital health, and biotechnology. The event gathered over 6,800 exhibitors, 2,000 startups from 180 countries, and 1,200 investors at Dubai World Trade Centre and Dubai Harbour, reinforcing Dubai’s position as a global technology hub.

Driving the UAE’s vision for AI leadership

The event underscored the UAE’s leading role in digital transformation, with Amr Kamel, General Manager at Microsoft UAE, highlighting how the country’s visionary leadership creates fertile ground for innovation. He noted that GITEX serves as a powerful platform pushing forward the nation’s AI journey—embracing responsible AI development and nurturing a digital ecosystem that attracts global collaboration and investment.A marquee moment was the virtual dialogue between Sam Altman, CEO of OpenAI, and Peng Xiao, Group CEO of G42. Their discussion on “architecting AI-Native Societies” explored how international partnerships are laying the groundwork for a global AI economy. This session illustrated the shift from nations merely adapting to innovation toward actively co-creating the AI-driven future.Government officials and ministers from regions including the UAE, European Union, Asia, Middle East, and Latin America convened to debate trust, regulation, and sovereignty in the AI era. Topics ranged from creating legislation for autonomous systems, defending against quantum computing threats, to securing cross-border data flows. Their discussions highlighted a pivotal global moment: countries are now key architects of AI policy and infrastructure.

Innovations and industry highlights

Gitex Global 2025 showcased breakthroughs across several future-critical sectors. Key events and exhibitions included GITEX Quantum Expo, Physical AI, Semicon, Super Data Centres, and GITEX Digi Health & Biotech. On the exhibition floors and stages, innovators revealed pioneering technologies such as:

  • Smart contact lenses that estimate glucose levels through biomarkers
  • Brain-computer implants capable of decoding neural signals

Leading global tech firms, chipmakers, and cloud providers including ai71, Alibaba Cloud, AMD, AWS, e&, G42, Google, HPE, Huawei, IBM, Microsoft, Oracle, Salesforce, and Snowflake presented advanced infrastructure designed to support sovereign AI workloads and large-scale intelligence systems.AMD’s General Manager for the Middle East, Türkiye, and Africa, Zaid Ghattas, described this GITEX as “one to remember,” emphasizing the event’s importance in connecting ecosystem partners and showcasing their AI and computing portfolio. Oracle’s Miguel Vega, Senior Vice President for the same region, spotlighted their focus on “Enterprise-Ready AI” and shared how their distributed and sovereign cloud solutions are accelerating AI adoption among national entities, fueling the UAE’s digital economy.Snowflake’s UAE Country Manager, Tareq Masoud, highlighted how the AI Data Cloud is transitioning organizations from experimentation to generating measurable business outcomes, thus driving innovation and growth in data-driven economies.

Expanding public-private partnerships and startup ecosystem

The event witnessed a record number of memorandums of understanding (MoUs) solidifying public-private partnerships for digital transformation. Notable collaborations included:

  • Presight teaming up with Dubai Taxi Company to develop AI solutions for smarter, sustainable urban transportation
  • AWS and e& launching the ‘AI Nation – Afaaq’ initiative, a nationwide program training 30,000 people in AI and cloud technologies across the UAE
  • Abu Dhabi’s Department of Municipalities and Transport announcing 19 strategic partnerships in AI-driven public services, real estate, smart city, and mobility sectors on a single day, marking their largest-ever government commitment at GITEX

Chiara Marcati, Chief Advisory & Business Officer at ai71, emphasized the company’s progress from demonstration to deployment, citing collaborations with the UAE Public Prosecution and a new partnership with Dubai Global Enterprises for global scaling. At Dubai Harbour, the startup showcase Expand North Star energized the event, drawing founders from over 100 countries who engaged with investors controlling more than $1.1 trillion in assets. The Supernova Challenge 2.0 awarded a total prize pool of $300,000, with Korea’s AIM Intelligence taking first place, and runners-up from Chile and Ecuador—reflecting GITEX’s growing global influence as a top platform for startup expansion.
