Florida man opens fire during argument on how many eggs a chicken can lay, held on $435,000 bond

Florida man opens fire during argument on how many eggs a chicken can lay, held on $435,000 bond

A late-night chat about chickens took a bizarre turn in Florida after a man known as “Farmer Pete” allegedly opened fire outside a bar during an argument over egg production. Police say no one was injured, but several arrests followed, reports the New York Post. Port St. Lucie police said the incident happened earlier this month outside a pub. Officers were alerted when 44-year-old Peter Riera, who was actually the culprit, called 911 claiming he had been robbed and was being chased by two men and a woman. When officers arrived, the trio told a very different story.According to the police report, Brandon Pace, his girlfriend Kayla Damiani and their friend Tyler McHargue, said they had only met Riera that night and had been chatting casually after being introduced to him as “Farmer Pete”. Their conversation somehow drifted to chickens and how many eggs they can lay. Witnesses said Riera suddenly became paranoid and began accusing them of trying to “jump” him and attempting to “con” him.Police say Riera then pulled out a gun and fired four shots as the group ran away. Body camera footage obtained by CBS 12 later showed Riera being arrested outside the pub wearing jean overalls and apparently without shoes. The victims also ended up in trouble. Pace was arrested for allegedly obstructing officers and kicking two of them. Damiani was detained for resisting without violence and later released on a $500 bond. McHargue cooperated and was not charged.Riera remains in custody on a $435,000 bond and faces several charges, including aggravated assault with a deadly weapon and discharging a firearm in public.
