Erika Kirk spoke about her hug with Vice President JD Vance at a Turning Point USA event on Oct. 29, and she said it was not strange or wrong. She said it was simply how she shows care. Erika lost her husband, Charlie Kirk, only seven weeks before this event. She was on stage as the new CEO of TPUSA and was very emotional. The hug became a big topic online because many people said it looked too close. People pointed at how Erika touched the back of JD Vance’s head and how he held her by the waist. But Erika Kirk told Megyn Kelly that people were reading too much into it. She said her “love language is touch,” and she hugs people this way all the time. She said she was crying, and JD Vance said, “I’m so proud of you.” Erika told PEOPLE she felt nothing wrong happened.

Erika Kirk and JD Vance hug: what Erika said on Megyn Kelly Show and why the moment went viral

Erika Kirk said the hug happened right after an emotional video of her late husband played. She said she was walking toward JD Vance, and he was walking toward her. She was already crying. According to PEOPLE, JD Vance told her, “I’m so proud of you.” She answered, “God bless you,” and touched the back of his head. Erika told Megyn Kelly that she always touches the back of a person’s head when she hugs someone and says “God bless you.” She said she did the same thing here, and it was not romantic at all. Many people online started posting about the moment. They talked about where their hands were placed and asked if the hug looked right. Erika said on stage with Megyn Kelly that she did not understand why people made jokes about it. Megyn Kelly even joked that people acted “like you touched the back of his ass!” Erika Kirk laughed and said she felt she would get less hate if she actually did that.Erika Kirk also said that JD Vance and his wife, Usha Vance, have been very kind to her. PEOPLE reported that Usha was seen without her wedding ring during a visit to Camp Lejeune, which led to online talk. A spokesperson told PEOPLE that Usha simply forgets her ring sometimes because she is busy with her three kids. Erika Kirk said the online noise will not stop her. She wants to focus on her husband’s work and the mission he left behind. Also Read: Is Erika Kirk Pregnant? Megyn Kelly Reacts As Erika Says She Prayed For A Baby When Charlie Kirk Was Killed
