In a major stride towards real-time urban governance, Dubai Municipality has launched Dubai Live, a smart platform designed to centralize and digitize city operations, municipal services, and urban planning systems. Introduced during GITEX Global 2025, the initiative integrates artificial intelligence, digital twin models, and predictive analytics – aiming to support Dubai’s transformation into the world’s most connected, efficient, and sustainable city.

Centralized platform for integrated urban operations

Dubai Live is positioned as a cornerstone of Dubai Municipality’s digital transformation, offering a unified interface to oversee a vast range of municipal functions. The platform consolidates real-time data across infrastructure development, licensing, construction progress, planning activities, and mobility systems. Through integration with the Urban Planning Observatory, users gain insights into:

  • Construction projects from initiation to completion
  • Building and infrastructure statuses
  • Population and economic density
  • Forecasting models to predict and support future urban requirements

This comprehensive data helps the Municipality monitor live changes across the city and supports faster, more informed decision-making processes. The platform also connects with mobility systems spanning land, air, and maritime transport, providing a seamless citywide operational view.According to Eng. Mariam Al Muhairi, CEO of the Building Regulation and Permits Agency, the platform serves as both a monitoring and strategic decision-making tool. “It enables us to display and monitor all city operations from a single hub, track real-time changes, and deliver accurate live analytics. More than just a monitoring system, it’s a powerful tool for strategic and investment decision-making,” she said.

Built on AI, predictive analytics and digital twin technology

Dubai Live is underpinned by advanced technologies including:

  • Artificial Intelligence (AI) for analytics and automation
  • Digital Twins to mirror physical urban environments digitally
  • Predictive Analytics for anticipating needs and managing city growth proactively

These technologies enable live tracking of city dynamics and predictive modelling to forecast the impact of future developments or disruptions. The approach reflects Dubai’s broader commitment to proactive governance and sustainability. Eng. Mariam Al Muhairi emphasized that the platform reflects Dubai Municipality’s mission to enhance operational efficiency while building a proactive, service-centric digital ecosystem. “Dubai Live underlines Dubai’s leadership in smart city excellence and reinforces its position as a global digital capital,” she said.

Featured smart systems: From city cleaning to real estate oversight

Dubai Municipality also showcased several complementary digital systems at GITEX Global 2025, each targeting a specific aspect of city operations. These include:

A. DANA Smart City Management System

  • Utilizes GIS and AI to map specialized buildings and real estate assets
  • Produces granular data to enhance regulatory control and support planning decisions
  • Designed to ensure compliance with sustainability and safety requirements

B. Smart Inspection Technologies

  • Smart Gold and Jewellery Testing Lab: The world’s first self-service lab for precious metals. It delivers results in under a minute using AI and IoT, improving consumer confidence and service efficiency.
  • Smart Inspection System: Automates inspection workflows using AI to speed up processes and enhance compliance monitoring across various municipal domains.

C. Smart Waste and Cleaning Management

  • Smart City Cleaning Operations Management System: Digitally coordinates waste collection and cleaning through a unified dashboard. Optimizes scheduling, routing, and performance using data analytics.
  • RASID: A satellite-based system that tracks waste collection vehicles in real time. Enhances operational transparency while lowering carbon emissions.

Each of these systems aligns with Dubai’s sustainability goals and long-term urban planning strategies.

Alignment with Dubai’s strategic vision

All the showcased initiatives including Dubai Live and the supporting smart systems are strategically aligned with:

  • Dubai Economic Agenda D33
  • The city’s aim to become the world’s smartest and most sustainable metropolis

Eng. Marwan Ahmed bin Ghalita, Director General of Dubai Municipality, said that building advanced digital infrastructure helps the city prepare for future shifts. “We ensure readiness for future needs and deliver real-time, predictive, and efficient services that enhance satisfaction, reduce costs, and promote community happiness,” he stated.Through the integration of AI, IoT, GIS, and automation, Dubai is redefining the standard for urban management, with an emphasis on sustainable governance, digital-first services, and elevated quality of life.
