Did iShowSpeed really get Guadeloupe citizenship during his viral Caribbean tour moment?

The claim spread very fast online, and many people believed it at first. Popular streamer Darren “iShowSpeed” Watkins Jr. was said to have received Guadeloupean citizenship during his Caribbean tour in 2026. A video showed a woman handing him a card and saying, “we are giving you this card, you are Guadeloupean now.” That single moment was enough to spark millions of views and strong reactions across social media. But when you look closer, the story does not hold up. There was no official confirmation from any authority. No legal document was shown. And more importantly, Guadeloupe is not an independent country. It is actually part of France. That means it cannot offer its own citizenship. So the viral claim quickly turned into a debate, with many viewers calling it misleading.

iShowSpeed Guadeloupe citizenship claim explained as fans question viral moment

As clips kept spreading, viewers started pointing out key facts. Guadeloupe is a French overseas department, not a separate nation. Because of this, there is no such thing as “Guadeloupean citizenship.” Citizenship in that region comes under French law. So even if someone wanted to offer it, they legally cannot. Another detail also raised questions. The woman in the video was called the Vice President of Guadeloupe in viral posts. But Guadeloupe does not have a Vice President or a head of state like a separate country would. It is governed under the French system. This made many viewers doubt the claim even more. The moment itself likely came from a friendly interaction. During his Caribbean tour, iShowSpeed has been meeting locals, officials, and fans in every country. These moments often turn into fun and emotional clips. That is exactly what seems to have happened here. The line, “we are giving you this card, you are Guadeloupean now,” appears to be symbolic, not official. There was also no statement from any government body. No press release, no legal update, and no official record. That is important, because real citizenship always comes with proper legal steps and public confirmation. At the same time, fans connected this moment with something real. iShowSpeed did receive a Ghanaian passport during his earlier Africa tour. That event was widely shared and celebrated. Because of that, many viewers assumed this was another similar moment. Some even joked that he is collecting citizenships while traveling.Still, in this case, the facts are clear. Darren “iShowSpeed” Watkins Jr. did not receive Guadeloupean citizenship. The claim is based on a viral clip, not reality.
