Her death was confirmed by her husband, Brandon Paul, who shared the heartbreaking news in an emotional video. According to People Magazine, MacKenzie had been battling acute myeloid leukemia for three years. In the video posted on Facebook on Thursday, January 22, Brandon spoke openly about his loss. Even while grieving, he said he felt comfort knowing MacKenzie was no longer suffering. “She’s not in pain anymore,” he said, holding back tears.MacKenzie built a strong bond with her followers by being honest about her health struggles. In his 10-minute video, he shared full and heartfelt words about her strength.“As you know, Kenzie is in heaven now. But the one thing I am really, really happy about is that she’s not in pain anymore,” Brandon said. He also spoke about how open MacKenzie was with her followers. While she shared many updates online, Brandon explained that some of the hardest moments stayed private. He said there were times when she was in the ICU and could not breathe on her own.Brandon and MacKenzie got married in June 2023. Just a few months later, in October 2023, she told the world about her acute myeloid leukemia diagnosis. Brandon said those two and a half years of marriage were a blessing, even though they were filled with pain and fear.According to People Magazine, MacKenzie was only 23 when she first learned she had cancer. At that time, she was a second-year medical student at Michigan State University College of Human Medicine. While working at Spectrum Health Butterworth Hospital in Grand Rapids, Michigan, she felt dizzy and fainted during her clinical rotation.At first, MacKenzie thought it was stress. But when it happened again days later, a senior doctor suggested tests. In August 2023, just seven weeks later, she received the diagnosis of acute myeloid leukemia, a serious cancer of the blood and bone marrow.After Brandon shared the news of her death, fans filled social media with messages of love.
