The season’s first real snowfall dusted the White House and much of DC, turning Pennsylvania Avenue into a snow globe.The White House shared images and videos of the historic building covered in snow, capturing the winter scene. This marks the official start of winter weather for the capital, with early morning snow flurries blanketing the area. The photo goes viral on internet with several users expressing happiness with the images. One of the users commented: “A fresh snowfall on the White House always brings back the feeling of classic American tradition. Heavy snow is sweeping across a broad stretch of the United States from the Rockies to the Northeast, disrupting travel and delaying thousands of flights. Overnight snowfall blanketed the northern Plains and Great Lakes, with Chicago and surrounding areas waking up to several inches of fresh powder. Totals reached more than 9 inches in parts of South Dakota and Iowa, while Chicago O’Hare International Airport recorded about 4 inches. By Sunday, the system pushed east, bringing light snow to states from Ohio to New York, with most areas expecting 2 to 5 inches before conditions taper off early Monday.The winter blast has had major travel impacts. As of Sunday afternoon, more than 7,000 flights nationwide were delayed and nearly 600 canceled, with O’Hare, Atlanta, and Charlotte seeing the biggest disruptions. Meanwhile, the Southeast remains soaked by a line of strong storms, bringing heavy rain, potential flash flooding, and even a brief tornado threat along the Florida Peninsula.Out West, another round of severe weather is developing as atmospheric river systems target Washington and Oregon with heavy rain, mountain snow, and strong wind gusts through midweek.
