US music star Zach Bryan is facing backlash from fans and MAGA supporters after posting a song snippet criticizing the Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE).The controversy erupted after Bryan shared a short clip of his unreleased song on Instagram four days ago. The song featured lyrics that appear to denounce immigration raids. The song was captioned “the fading of the red, white and blue”. It included lines such as:”My friends are all degenerates, but they’re all I got. The generational story of dropping the plot. I heard the cops came. Cocky motherf***ers, ain’t they?”“ICE is gonna come bust down your door. Try to build a house, no one builds no more. Well, I got a telephone. Kids are all scared and all alone.”The song titled “Bad News,” was released just days after Bryan broke the record for the largest ticketed concert in US history, drawing over 112,000 fans, as reported y the Axios.

Who is Zach Bryan?

Bryan, a Navy veteran from Oklahoma, first gained attention in 2019 with his debut album “DeAnn.” Known for blending country storytelling with heartfelt, raw lyrics, he quickly built a massive fan base.Although Bryan describes himself as a “total libertarian,” he has generally avoided political debates. His fan base includes both conservative and liberal listeners. Previously, he has urged his fans to be respectful. In 2023, he criticized those mocking transgender people during the Bud Light controversy and in 2022, he asked concertgoers not to chant vulgar slogans against then US President Joe Biden.Today, Bryan has over 25 million monthly listeners on Spotify and he often shares short clips of new songs online. His team has not yet commented publicly on the latest controversy.

Backlash from MAGA supporters

Many conservative listeners and MAGA supporters reacted angrily to the lyrics, accusing Bryan of turning against law enforcement and conservative values.Tricia McLaughlin, an assistant secretary at the Department of Homeland Security, wrote on X, “Stick to Pink Skies, dude,” referencing another of Bryan’s songs. Podcaster Benny Johnson posted, “He just drew 112,000 fans to the biggest concert in US history. Now that will never happen again. When will they learn?”Country singer John Rich also weighed in, comparing Bryan to The Chicks, who were famously criticized for opposing the Iraq War. “Zach Bryan has every right to record a song bashing law enforcement, and fans have every right to keep supporting his career, or not. Capitalism isn’t cancellation.”While critics accused Bryan of disrespecting ICE, others praised his courage for speaking out.Political strategist Chris Jackson wrote, “When you’ve lost country music star Zach Bryan, it might be time for some self-reflection.”Michelle Kinney, CEO of the Seneca Project, said, “Country singer and military veteran Zach Bryan drops new song criticizing ICE and the collapse of American democracy. This moment calls for moral and artistic courage.”

White House issues response

The White House weighed in on the controversy, releasing a pointed statement that referenced Bryan’s popular songs.“While Zach Bryan wants to Open The Gates to criminal illegal aliens and has Condemned heroic ICE officers, Something in the Orange tells me most Americans disagree and support President Trump’s great American Revival. Godspeed, Zach!”The statement made by spokesperson Abigail Jackson, reflects the administration’s broader defense of ICE amid increasing criticism of its enforcement tactics.Bryan’s song adds to a growing list of musicians who have taken public stances on U.S. immigration policies. Artists such as Bad Bunny, Shakira and Doechii have all criticized President Donald Trump’s approach to immigration. Go to Source
