NEW DELHI: RSS chief Mohan Bhagwat on Saturday said the world would not exist without Hindus, during his visit to violence-stricken Manipur. Addressing a crowd, Bhagwat said that many civilisations had disappeared over time, mentioning Greece, Egypt, and Rome. Quoting Muhammad Iqbal’s famous line, “Kuch baat hai ki hasti mitti nahi hamari,” (There is something about us that our identity never fades), he said that the Hindu community would continue to exist “because of the network of society we have created”. Bhagwat, who also met tribal leaders in Imphal on the second day of his three-day visit, called for unity and character-building to bring lasting peace and progress to the region. He told the leaders that the issues they raised were national concerns and stressed that solutions must come within the Constitutional framework. “Issues in a family must be solved within the family. Dialogue must be based on oneness, not bargaining,” he said. He also noted that some regional tensions have historical roots in colonial policies. The RSS chief further said that efforts were being made at the community and societal levels to restore stability. “Destruction takes minutes, but construction takes years, especially when done without harming anyone. Peace-building needs patience, collective work, and discipline,” he said.
