Watch: Youth’s 'bonnet navigation' goes viral; internet cheers 'new feature'

Winter fog across North India has taken over, with dense cover and low visibility making headlines every day. This has majorly affected motorists’ road travel, requiring them to take precautionary measures for driving responsibly. A video of a group of men trying to deal with the dense fog in their car has gone viral, with netizens lauding the ingenuity of Indian youth in dealing with any situation. The clip shows a man sitting on the bonnet of the car, guiding the driver with hand signals to navigate amid the dense fog, through dangerously low visibility, turning a fog-choked route into an improvised navigation exercise. The video shared by user @davldeed has garnered over 13 million views on Instagram. The video shared with a caption “Fogg Light❌ Dost ✅” starts with a man sitting on the bonnet as the voice in the video says, “So guys, the visibility is zero. We have a man sitting outside who’s giving us instructions.” The bonnet rider can be seen giving signals to steer the car left or right as faint headlights of vehicles passing by are spotted.”ADAS Level 4. Only 1 in India Scorpio,” text is written on the video, highlighting the “super-exclusive” navigation assistance installed in the car. The voice is further heard saying, “We are on a slightly off-road patch, and we cannot see anything here, where to turn,” to which a second voice adds, “No light can help, get a man to sit in the front (at the bonnet).” All this goes on while the man sitting in front keeps indicating to the driver to navigate the directions. In response to the same, the driver jokingly remarks, “We got the indicator.”Netizens flooded the comments with amusement and jokes. One user wrote, “Dusre cars- Ye mahadev tathastu karte hue ni lg ra dur se (Other cars: From a distance, it doesn’t look like ‘Mahadev’ doing ‘tathastu’)” joking about how the sight would appear to any vehicle crossing by.Another user posted a suggestion saying, “Always open the camera. It works best in fog and will show u a clearer image on screen.”Many other comments replied with references to the viral “aura-farming” kid.
