Watch: Disturbed by firecrackers, stray dog boards metro in Kolkata; netizens react

NEW DELHI: A video of a stray dog riding in the Kolkata metro on Diwali has been making rounds on the internet. The video shows the dog going from one compartment to another to find a peaceful spot to rest. Many guessed it to be an attempt for the stray to avoid the loud noises and smoke from the fire crackers. While the video widely received a positive response, as many found the instance to be adorable, it raises the concerns surrounding the panic and injuries caused to animals, especially strays, during Diwali.Stray on the rideThe video making rounds on the internet shows a stray dog aboard the Kolkata blue line metro. The canine can be seen navigating from one coach to another as it tries to find the perfect spot for its refuge away from the loud firecrackers. The passengers initially hold an amused expression on their faces after spotting the unanticipated co-passenger. Eventually, the passengers wanting to record the bizarre encounter took their phones out. This seemingly bothered the stray as it tried to avoid the spots with people recording it. Some commuters were also seen petting the quadruped co-passenger.‘Poor animal’ goes viralThe video mostly garnered a warm response from the netizens. Some users also expressed relief after seeing an affectionate response from the people on-board. “So lovely to see. Atleast people are not shooing away the dog,” said one user. “Does bro know Where is bro going?,” another user joked about dog’s train ride. “He is getting late for the office, that’s why he took the metro today,” wrote a user. However, some users also raised concerns regarding the displaced stray. “Poor animal..Got lost from his original area..hope he can get back to its original home..praying,” remarked one user. For territorial animals like dogs, getting displaced from their own territory can turn out to be life threatening.
