Uttar Pradesh: Girl thrashed by dad over affair with cousin, dies

KANPUR: Days after she was beaten up by her father for allegedly having an affair with a cousin, the body of a 16-year-old girl was found under mysterious circumstances in Sachendi village on Tuesday morning.While her father said she hanged herself, police said they preserved the viscera as cause of death was not clear in the postmortem report. According to family members, a dupatta was tied around her neck when the body was located. “The girl was having an affair with her cousin. After discovering her talking on the phone secretly, her father beat her,” said ACP Panki Shikhar. The girl’s father runs a peanut cart. His family includes his wife and their four children.
