'Trying to defame the country': Kangana Ranaut calls Rahul Gandhi ‘a disgrace’; backs PM Modi’s khadi appeal

NEW DELHI: BJP MP Kangana Ranaut on Thursday called Congress leader Rahul Gandhi “a disgrace,” accusing him of defaming India and portraying its people as dishonest.“He is a disgrace. Everyone knows that he is trying to defame the country everywhere, criticising the country…If he’s criticising the country, saying that people here are quarrelsome, that people here are not honest…By all these things, he’s trying to show that the people of India are brainless. If that’s what he wants to say, then that’s why I call him a disgrace. He always brings shame to the country, and the country is also ashamed of him,” Ranaut said. Separately, addressing her support for indigenous clothing, she said, “You can see I’m wearing a khadi sari, khadi blouse. Our indigenous clothing and fabric are in high demand all over the world today. As the Prime Minister says, unfortunately, we have to depend on other countries for things, so now is the time to become completely self-reliant. In this effort, although we purchase a lot of khadi clothes, but the Prime Minister made an appeal in his Mann Ki Baat, specifically stating that we should come on October 2nd to buy khadi. So, to honour his words, we’ve come here today.”
