SRINAGAR: J&K Police’s State Investigation Agency (SIA) on Friday carried out raids in Srinagar and in central Kashmir’s Ganderbal district as part of its probe into the white-collar terror network. The SIA teams searched the Batamaloo residence of Tufail Niyaz Bhat, an AC technician who was earlier taken into custody, officials said. Bhat is believed to have provided the AK-47 that was recovered from a locker of Adeel Ahmad Rather at Govt Medical College in Anantnag. Rather has been charged under the Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act in connection with the Delhi blast case.Bhat, 25, was initially detained by CARGO, the operations wing of J&K Police, before being handed over to SIA after authorities busted the inter-state module and transferred the Nowgam case to the agency.SIA also conducted a raid at the home of Zameer Ahangar in Wakoora at Ganderbal in connection with the same investigation. Police had earlier recovered a pistol from Ahangar, which officials say was given to him by Maulvi Irfan Ahmad Wagey, who is one of the accused in the case.On Oct 19, J&K Police had arrested Arif Nisar Dar, Yasir-ul-Ashraf and Maqsood Ahmad Dar from Nowgam, apart from the cleric, known locally as “Mufti Sahab”, after Jaish-e-Mohammad posters threatening police and security personnel appeared in the Bonpora area. Their questioning led to the uncovering of the Jaish module involving doctors.
