Rekha Gupta's husband attends govt meet: BJP counters AAP's 'Phulera Panchayat' jibe; takes 'Sunita Kejriwal' dig

NEW DELHI: Bharatiya Janata Party on Monday dismissed Aam Aadmi Party’s charge on Delhi CM Rekha Gupta over the involvement of her husband in the governance of the national capital. BJP alleged that it was “CM Madam” Sunita Kejriwal, on whose direction, officers carried out “illegal orders” during AAP government’s regime.”The Aam Aadmi Party should find something more substantive to target Delhi Chief Minister Rekha Gupta. She was holding a review meeting of her constituency, which is managed by her husband—just as Smt. Sheila Dikshit’s constituency was managed by her sister Rama Dhawan, and Sunita Kejriwal used to look after Arvind Kejriwal’s. Unlike Sunita Kejriwal, however, the CM’s husband was not sitting on her chair or issuing illegal orders that senior officers were forced to record on file as ‘CM Madam has directed’,” Amit Malviya said.”Stop targeting Rekha Gupta just because she is a woman who is doing a good job and making Arvind Kejriwal look more ordinary with each passing day,” he added. The controversy began when AAP Delhi president Saurabh Bhardwaj asked BJP leader and current CM Rekha Gupta to clarify her husband’s role in running the government. “Rekha Gupta has taken the oath of the Constitution, the oath of confidentiality. No law of the country permits her to include her husband in government meetings. But we have seen that her husband is attending meetings with her, conducting inspections, giving instructions to officers,” he said.”How can a businessman run the government or have a stake in running the government? This is completely unethical and unconstitutional… My question to the BJP is, they should clarify what position Rekha Gupta’s husband holds?” he questioned.AAP, on Sunday, went a step further and posted a purported photo from a meeting that showed Rekha Gupta’s husband, Manish, seated alongside her, mocking the administration by likening it to Phulera Panchayat.
