Rajasthan ATS detains cleric for ‘anti-national activities’

JAISALMER: Rajasthan’s Anti-Terrorism Squad (ATS) detained a ‘maulvi (cleric)’ in Kuriyaberi village, located in Tanot-Kishangarh area near the India-Pakistan border, for his suspected involvement in potential anti-national activities in the region. Sources said the operation leading to the detention of the 45-year-old cleric, a resident of Uttar Pradesh, was initiated Saturday on the basis of intelligence.Following his detention by an ATS team, the suspect was transported to Jaipur for interrogation as part of ongoing investigations. While detailed information was still awaited, the seriousness of his purported activities raised alarm among security agencies, particularly given the strategic nature of the border area.
