Jal shakti minister reviews progress of water projects in UP villages; directs officials to complete arrangements ahead of summer

The Uttar Pradesh government has directed officials to begin early preparations to prevent drinking water shortages in villages ahead of the summer months under the Jal Jeevan Mission and the State Rural Drinking Water Programme at the Rural Water Supply Headquarters. Jal shakti minister Swatantra Dev Singh on Monday reviewed the progress of projects.During the review, Singh instructed officials to complete all necessary arrangements in advance and directed engineers to speak daily with at least ten village heads to monitor the status of drinking water schemes and resolve any issues. He also instructed engineers to keep public representatives regularly informed on the progress of water supply projects. The minister further reviewed road restoration work, emphasizing that all roads dug up for pipeline installation should be fully restored by the end of March. Senior officials were asked to conduct on-site inspections, with strict action to be taken against implementing agencies in case of lapses. Singh also noted that drinking water issues in the villages of Bundelkhand and Vindhya have largely been addressed.Additional chief secretary of Namami Gange and Rural Water Supply Department, Anurag Srivastava, was present during the review.
