An Indian national was the victim in the attack on Kuwait airport by Iranian drones earlier on Wednesday.”Embassy of India in Kuwait expresses its deepest condolences at the tragic demise of an Indian national due to an attack on the airport in Kuwait today,” said Indian embassy in Kuwait on X.”The Embassy is in touch with the bereaved family and is closely coordinating with the Kuwaiti authorities to render all possible support and assistance to the bereaved family as well as those injured in the incident,” it added. The attack came amid a broader escalation between Iran and the US despite ongoing ceasefire efforts. Apart from the death of 1 person, Iranian drones that struck Kuwait International Airport caused heavy damage to a passenger terminal. Meanwhile, the US military said it intercepted multiple drones targeting American forces in Kuwait and that Iranian missiles fired toward the country fell apart en route. It also said US and Bahraini forces intercepted missiles and drones aimed at Bahrain, home to the US Navy’s 5th Fleet. In response, the US launched strikes on an Iranian military ground control station on Qeshm Island in the Strait of Hormuz. Both Washington and Tehran said their actions were retaliatory, as tensions continued to strain efforts to preserve a fragile regional ceasefire.
