Home minister did not answer my questions: Rahul Gandhi

Congress leader Rahul Gandhi criticized Home Minister Amit Shah’s response on electoral reforms as “defensive,” asserting that key opposition questions went unanswered. Gandhi highlighted concerns regarding transparent voter lists, EVM architecture, and alleged dual voting by BJP functionaries, noting Shah’s silence on these points and the removal of the Chief Justice from the EC selection collegium.

Rahul: Shah’s reply to debate on poll reforms ‘defensive’NEW DELHI: Congress MP Rahul Gandhi termed as “defensive” home minister Amit Shah’s reply to the “electoral reforms” debate in Lok Sabha, saying Shah did not answer the key questions raised by the opposition. Rahul told reporters outside Parliament, “It was a totally defensive response. You must have seen his face.”The LoP said he had made some demands and asked some questions – like the govt must give a transparent voters’ list to all, should provide the architecture of EVMs to all, and why were BJP functionaries giving votes in Haryana and Bihar both. “My press conferences (about flawed voters’ list in Haryana, Karnataka, Maharashtra) have solid proof. But Amit Shah was silent on these issues,” he said.Rahul said the home minister was also silent on the issue of why the chief justice of India was removed from the collegium to select the ECs, and why was the Election Commission given immunity for their work in office by a change of law.
