Election Results 2026
Historically, the CPI(M) dominated the seat for much of the Left Front era, but its hold has eroded sharply since 2011.The 2016 result was particularly notable: Goutam Das, contesting on a Congress ticket, defeated BJP’s Satyendra Nath Ray by over 10,000 votes — a significant margin that reflected Congress’s residual strength in parts of Dakshin Dinajpur at the time. Yet 2021 produced a striking reversal. Satyendra Nath Ray, having switched to BJP, defeated Goutam Das of TMC by 4,592 votes, part of the state-wide BJP wave. The 2026 contest is therefore a rematch of sorts, with Das now flying TMC colours and Ray defending the seat for BJP. The constituency has swung between Congress, TMC, and BJP across successive elections, making it highly unpredictable.
