CHANDIGARH: As part of the flood rehabilitation efforts, a warehouse facility has been set up on Ajnala Road in Amritsar. This central hub for storing and distributing relief materials was created by Rajya Sabha MP Vikramjit Singh Sahney, president of the Sun Foundation and World Punjabi Organisation, by converting a resort.The warehouse was officially opened by Punjab Vidhan Sabha Speaker Sardar Kultar Singh Sandhwan, who emphasized the crucial role of community participation in rebuilding lives. He noted that alongside govt initiatives, social organizations and NGOs are vital in accelerating relief and rehabilitation efforts across Punjab.The facility is stocked with essential flood relief items, including 50 tractors and 10 JCB machines for desilting, 200 fogging machines to prevent disease outbreaks, and food and shelter provisions for thousands. These supplies will be distributed in coordination with the Amritsar District Administration to ensure they reach those most in need. Sahney stressed the importance of timely measures to protect Punjab, the “wheat basket of India,” from severe threats to the national food supply chain.
