‘Deeply concerned by civilian casualties,’ India on Israel’s airstrikes across Lebanon

India on Friday said it was deeply concerned about the rising number of civilian deaths in Lebanon, as Israeli strikes continued despite a two-week ceasefire meant to stop the month-long conflict in West Asia. It stressed that protecting civilians remained its top priority. Speaking at an inter-ministerial briefing in New Delhi, ministry of external affairs spokesperson Randhir Jaiswal described the situation as “very disturbing”, especially in the context of India’s long-standing position supporting peace and stability in the region.
