‘Deeply concerned by civilian casualties,’ India on Israel’s airstrikes across Lebanon

India on Friday said it was deeply concerned about the rising number of civilian deaths in Lebanon, as Israeli strikes continued despite a two-week ceasefire meant to stop the month-long conflict in West Asia. It stressed that protecting civilians remained its top priority. Speaking at an inter-ministerial briefing in New Delhi, ministry of external affairs spokesperson Randhir Jaiswal described the situation as “very disturbing”, especially in the context of India’s long-standing position supporting peace and stability in the region. ‘BJP to bring UCC in 6 months’: Amit Shah pitches common civil law in Bengal

Union home minister Amit Shah on Friday declared that the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) would implement the RSS and his party’s ambitious Uniform Civil Code (UCC) once they are voted to power in the high-stakes West Bengal elections.Shah, who has pulled out all the stops ahead of voting in Bengal, in no uncertain terms, has said that the UCC would be rolled out within six months of the BJP coming to power. Delhi Police bust ISI-backed spy module; 10 operatives arrested in major crackdown

In a major blow to cross-border intelligence networks, the Delhi Police special cell has busted an espionage module backed by Pakistan’s Inter-Services Intelligence (ISI) and arrested at least 10 operatives. Investigators revealed that the module was engaged in extensive reconnaissance of several vital installations and high-traffic areas across the national capital and beyond. Read full story
