Sale and purchase of animals at public places is completely prohibited,” Mishra said.According to the government advisory, animal sacrifice will be allowed only at authorised and designated locations. Sacrifices on roads, lanes and other public places have been strictly banned. The minister also reiterated that slaughter or sacrifice of cows, calves, camels and other prohibited animals is completely banned in Delhi. Authorities have been directed to register criminal cases in instances of illegal transportation, unauthorised slaughter or animal cruelty. The advisory further stated that no cruelty should be inflicted during transportation of animals and meat cannot be sold at unlicensed locations. Authorities have also been instructed to ensure that blood and animal remains are not dumped in drains, roads or public sewage systems. The Delhi government said awareness campaigns through posters and social media will also be launched to spread awareness about animal welfare rules and civic responsibilities ahead of Bakrid.
