Colachal election results 2026: DMK’s Austin wins by 7,570 votes

In Nagercoil, DMK candidate Austin won the 2026 Tamil Nadu Assembly election by 7,570 votes against Tamilaga Vettri Kazhagam candidate Bervin Kings G, while Gandhi M R contested from the BJP.Colachal is a Congress-stronghold assembly constituency in poll-bound Tamil Nadu, falling under the Kanniyakumari Lok Sabha segment in Kanyakumari district. The current MLA is JG Prince of the Congress, who has held the seat since 2011, winning successive elections in 2016 and 2021. In the 2021 polls, Prince defeated BJP’s Ramesh P by nearly 25,000 votes, following earlier victories with margins of over 11,000 in 2011 and 26,000 in 2016. Prior to Prince, Congress’ S Jeyapaul, who passed away in 2010, had won the seat in 2006. For the 2021 elections, Colachal recorded a voter turnout of 71.5 percent, with 182,091 of its 254,691 registered electors casting their votes.
