'Cease such attacks': MEA condemns Kuwait airport attack that killed Indian national

NEW DELHI: The ministry of external affairs condemned the attack on Kuwait airport on Wednesday which killed an Indian national. It called upon the parties to cease strikes on civilian population and civilian infrastructure.”We condemn the attack on the Kuwait International Airport today in which an Indian national has died and several of our nationals are injured. Since the onset of the conflict in West Asia, we have strongly urged that civilian population and civilian infrastructure must not be targeted. We again call upon parties to cease such attacks,” MEA said in a statement.”We offer our deepest condolences to the bereaved family. Our Embassy is extending all possible assistance to those injured. We remain in close contact with local authorities for the welfare of Indian nationals.Indian Missions and Posts across the region are on alert and continue to proactively support our community,” it added. Kuwait halted air traffic operations after Iranian strikes struck Terminal One, resulting in casualties and damage to airport infrastructure, according to Directorate General of Civil Aviation spokesperson Abdullah Al-Rajhi, as quoted by the state-run KUNA news agency. Later, the airport was partially re-opened.The strikes came as Iranian semi-official news agencies reported that Tehran had suspended communications with mediators over efforts to extend the ceasefire in its conflict with the United States and Israel. A regional official said Iran was insisting on enforcement of the Lebanon truce before resuming talks, a claim disputed by US President Donald Trump, who said negotiations were still ongoing.
