Blamed by Rohini Acharya, who are Sanjay Yadav and Rameez? People who 'forced' Lalu Yadav's daughter to quit politics

NEW DELHI: In a cryptic social media post declaring that she is “disowning” her family, Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD) chief Lalu Prasad Yadav’s daughter Rohini Acharya named two individuals — Sanjay Yadav and Rameez — saying she was merely doing what they asked her to and yet, she is the one who is now being blamed. “I’m quitting politics and I’m disowning my family… This is what Sanjay Yadav and Rameez had asked me to do… and I’m taking all the blame,” wrote Acharya, who is a doctor by qualification and based in Singapore, a day after the RJD-led alliance suffered a heavy defeat in the Bihar assembly elections.Who are Sanjay Yadav and Rameez?According to news agency PTI, the “Sanjay Yadav” referred to in Acharya’s post is a close aide of her brother Tejashwi Yadav, the RJD-led alliance’s chief ministerial face in Bihar. Born in Haryana in 1984, Sanjay Yadav joined the RJD in 2012 and was elected to the Rajya Sabha by the party in 2024. Rameez, meanwhile, is reportedly an old friend of Tejashwi Yadav and comes from a political family in neighbouring Uttar Pradesh. Why did Rohini Acharya quit politics and ‘disown’ her family?Acharya, who donated a kidney to her father in 2022, had unsuccessfully contested the Saran Lok Sabha seat last year. There had been speculation that she was “unhappy” over the expulsion of her elder brother, Tej Pratap Yadav, from the RJD. However, during the assembly election campaign, she was still seen actively canvassing for Tejashwi Yadav.
