BJP stole Bengal, Assam polls with EC's help, claims Rahul Gandhi

Rahul Gandhi

NEW DELHI: West Bengal and Assam are “clear cases of elections being stolen by BJP with the support of EC”, Congress MP Rahul Gandhi claimed Monday, alleging that more than 100 seats were stolen in Bengal.”We agree with Mamata (Banerjee) ji. More than 100 seats were stolen in Bengal,” he said in a post on X. “We have seen this playbook before: MP, Haryana, Maharashtra and Lok Sabha 2024 etc,” Rahul added. “Election theft, institution theft – what other option is there now?” he said.In another post, the leader of the opposition in Lok Sabha said he spoke with TVK chief Vijay to congratulate him on his win in Tamil Nadu. He emphasised that “this mandate reflects the rising voice of the youth, which cannot, and will not, be ignored”.

Election Results 2026

He also spoke to outgoing chief ministers Mamata Banerjee and M K Stalin about the election results.Congress president Mallikarjun Kharge described the results as a “mixed bag”. “However, we must remember that ours is an ideological battle. Such a path demands patience, perseverance and unwavering resolve,” he said on X.”Our party has always chosen the path of truth, justice and inclusivity. While the journey may be challenging, we remain steadfast in our commitment to serve the people and protect the core values of our democracy,” he said. Party spokesperson Jairam Ramesh said Congress extends its heartfelt gratitude to the people of Kerala for granting UDF the opportunity to serve with a resounding majority.”With the exception of Kerala, the election results elsewhere have fallen short of our expectations. However, we are neither disheartened nor dejected. We are waging an ideological struggle,” he added.
