NEW DELHI: Mahagathbandhan chief ministerial face Tejashwi Yadav on Tuesday said that his government will transfer Rs 30,000 to women if they are voted to power in the upcoming assembly elections.”After we form the Government, on Makar Sankranti – 14th January, we will deposit Rs 30,000 for an entire year into the accounts of women under ‘Mai Bahin Maan Yojana’..” Tejashwi said while addressing a press conference on the last day of campaigning for the first phase of the elections.
“We spoke to women about the ‘Mai Bahin Maan Yojana’, and they are very excited about it,” he added.With Mai Bahin Yojana, Tejashwi joins a growing list of similar welfare schemes launched by govts ahead of assembly elections. These include Madhya Pradesh’s ‘Ladli Behena Yojana’, Maharashtra’s ‘Ladli Bahin Yojana’, and Jharkhand’s ‘Maiya Samman Yojana’, introduced by their respective CMs.Under this scheme, eligible women in Bihar will get Rs 2,500 every month directly deposited into their bank accounts starting December 1 and Rs 30,000 per year for the next five years.Tejashwi, however, said they will transfer Rs 30,000 on January 14 itself on the “demands of the mothers and sisters” of Bihar. RJD leader Tejashwi Yadav also annunced that farmers would be given Rs 300 per quintal of paddy and Rs 400 for wheat as a bonus over MSP.Tejashwi said heads of all Primary Agricultural Credit Societies (PACS) and Primary Marketing Cooperative Societies (Vyapar Mandals) will also be given the status of ‘people’s representatives’ in the state.“All farmers will be given Rs 300 per quintal of paddy and Rs 400 for wheat as a bonus over the Minimum Support Price (MSP), if the INDIA bloc comes to power,” Yadav said.”Besides, we are also planning to give honorarium to managers of registered 8,400 vyapar mandals and PACS in the state, if we form the government,” he said.
